The West Coast Minerals Forum 2025 was held in the coal mining township of Runanga on Thursday the 30th of October. It attracted a total of 250 attendees from the West Coast, throughout New Zealand, and from overseas locations as far afield as Western Australia, British Columbia, and Indonesia. The lineup of speakers included central government politicians, mining operators at all levels of the sector, and civil servants from New Zealand Petroleum and Minerals and the Department of Conservation. As was the case the previous year, a highlight was a master class from DOC on rehabilitating alluvial gold mine sites.
